Armed robbery suspect caught

A suspect has been caught in an armed robbery at Habersham Federal Credit Union on Evans Street in Homer. The suspect fled the scene prior to deputies' arrival but was caught a few hours later.

Banks County Sheriff's Office K9, Hall County Sheriff's Office K9, and Lee Arrendale K9 pursued the suspect in a wooded area near Evans Street.

The sheriff's office notified all residents in the area and requested all business and schools in the area to be on lockdown.

The suspect was described as wearing green gym shorts and a sleeveless dark t-shirt. He is described as a white male and is approximately 5'9-5'10" and weighing 180-200lbs. He is armed, the sheriff's office says.
