BOE millage rate unchanged for 2010-11

In a unanimous vote at the called meeting of the Banks County Board of Education on Thursday, Oct. 7, the board approved the 2010-2011 millage rate of 13.244 mills. This is the same millage rate as the previous year.

In other business at Thursday’s called meeting:

•the board approved the following personnel items: new hires: Vivian Ortiz, bus monitor, and Linda Coggins, part-time custodian; and resignation: April Turner.

•the board unanimously approved a resolution to be submitted to the State of Georgia Department of Education for charter school system consideration. The board will hold two public forums to seek input on the charter system application. The forums will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, and Monday, Oct. 18. Both forums will be held at the Banks County Board of Education Office. The regular work session meetings is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, and the regular meeting is set for 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 18, at the board office.
