Banks County (14-4; 5-5) leaves the 2010 season with a straight .500 record in both region and overall play.
The trip to the region tournament was a bumpy one as the Lady Leopards had a disappointing finish to the regular season in a 6-3 loss to Dawson County last Wednesday.
Following the loss to Dawson County, the Lady Leopards made up for it with a win over Jackson County in the first round of the region tournament on Monday.
Jackson County, the number three seed from the south side of the region hosted Banks County, the fourth seed from the north.
After eight innings, the Lady Leopards advanced with a 5-4 victory. This victory in the first round sent Banks County to Fannin County on Tuesday.
Against Fannin County, Banks County had a 10 run deficit in the 13-3 game. The loss pushed Banks County back into the lower bracket where the Lady Leopards faced Jackson County again.
Jackson County held out this time for a 7-1 win over Banks.

On impact, the ball compressed the ulnar nerve behind the elbow, commonly know as the funny bone, and in Goodwin’s case caused some complications.
Initial reports stated that Goodwin had suffered a heart attack, which was not the case, according to school officials. The ulnar nerve when compressed can cause numbness along the arm and in the hand, as well as affecting blood pressure.
“They took him to the hospital, he is back at home now feeling fine, but it was a scary situation for a little bit of time,” Wheaton said. “I spoke with him today and he is feeling much better, but is still sore and tired.”
