Exploring Georgia: Longest urban rafting experience found in Columbus
BY SHERRY LEWIS
It’s exciting! It exhilarating! It’s the longest urban rafting in the world, and it’s in Columbus, Georgia.
In May, a longtime vision and a lot of hard work between both public and private partners became a reality. Now rafting and kayaking enthusiasts from near and far are experiencing the ride of their lives on the Chattahoochee River. For comparison, the rapids on the Ocoee River can reach up to 1,100 cubic feet per second in volume, while the rapids at the Chattahoochee can reach up to 13,000 cubic feet per second in volume. This makes the rapids the largest south of Canada and east of the Colorado. [Full Story »]
