ALTO – Tommy Edward Garrish, 81, died Sunday, August 29, 2010, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Hall County. Born on November 22, 1928, in Hall County, he was the son of the late Vadie Wilkerson and Cora Belle Chastain Garrish. He was a retired poultry farmer and was of the Baptist denomination. Banks County has successfully started 2010 with a tidy 40-14 win over Social Circle. The on the road opener for the Leopards gets the team started on the right foot to overcome last season's 2-8 record. Next week, Big Blue heads to Gainesville to face Riverside Military. Under and by virtue of the power of sale contained in that certain Deed to Secure Debt (“Security Deed”) executed by VINCE F. REED in favor of COMMUNITY BANK & TRUST dated August 13, 2007, and recorded at Deed Book 311, Pages 60-64 of the Banks County, Georgia Deed Records, the undersigned will sell at public outcry to the highest bidder for cash before the door of the Courthouse of Banks County, Georgia, during the legal hours of sale, on the first Tuesday in September, that being September 7, 2010, the following described property:
All that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the 1580 GMD, Banks County, Georgia, being Lot 8, Hickory Knoll Subdivision, as per plat recorded in Plat Book B, Page 13, of the Banks County Deed records, which plat is incorporated herein by reference for a more complete description of said property.
This conveyance is made subject to all zoning ordinances, easements, and restrictions of record affecting said bargained premises.
Said property is located at: 146 Timber Ridge Lane, Alto, GA 30510
The debt secured by said Security Deed is evidenced by a Commercial Promissory Note (the “Note”), dated August 1, 2008 in the original principal amount of $136,310.00, payable, principal and interest from the date thereof shown on said Note on the unpaid balance until paid.
Default has occurred in the payment of the debt evidenced by the Note and secured by the Security Deed as a result of the nonpayment of installments owed thereunder. The total balance of said debt has, therefore, been declared due and the Security Deed foreclosable according to its terms.
The debt remaining in default, the property will be sold to the highest bidder for cash as the property of Vince F. Reed, the proceeds to be applied to the payment of said indebtedness, attorneys’ fees (notice of intention to collect attorneys’ fees having been given), and the lawful expenses of said sale, all as provided in the Note and the Security Deed, said sale to be subject to any and all unpaid taxes and assessments, and restrictions, easements and liens of record with priority over the Security Deed referenced above.
To the best of the undersigned’s knowledge and belief, the property is in the possession of Vince F. Reed and will be sold as the property of Vince F. Reed.
The undersigned will execute a deed to the purchaser as authorized in the aforementioned Security Deed.

The Lady Leopards took one on the chin last Friday as Banks County recorded it’s first loss during the first round of the Threads Invitational at Stephens County. Gosnell appointed to Baldwin water plant position

Following a 30-minute closed session at Monday night’s Baldwin City Council meeting, Mayor Jerry Neace announced the appointment of Nancy Gosnell as water plant supervisor.
Gosnell has been serving as the interim water plant supervisor since the resignation of Don Boaen.
City administrator Jerry Presley advised he will begin advertising immediately for a replacement for Gosnell’s position as a water plant operator.
