The Banks County Board of Education plans to leave the millage rate the same as the current rate. The board gave tentative approval at a work session Thursday night for a 13.2 millage rate.

The motion passed 2-1 with Bo Garrison casting the opposing vote. Voting in favor of the motion were Ron Gardiner and John Williams.

The BOE will hold a called meeting to approve the millage rate on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.

According to the most recent tax digest the BOE has received, the digest is down by $2.4 million. According to superintendent Chris Erwin, the BOE is still owed over $1 million in back taxes.

Ok, I'm not going to say it. It's so darn simple I ain't believe I even thought of it. Nope, not gonna. A heard of horses can't make me. Nope, ummm, no? Dang it, ok I will - Erwin states the BOE digest is down by $2.4 Million and is still owed $1 million in back taxes. For a superintendent, he sure is stupid. Erwin, check the local paper!! The foreclosures to be specific. You're owed $1 million because now read carefully, closely, check every letter - PEOPLE DON'T HAVE THE DAMN MONEY!!!!! But then you wouldn't understand that would you Erwin, your $170,000+ salary cushions you from any monetary HARDSHIP!!!! Morons, Banks BOE is run by MORONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to get a life. Most of the bus drivers and mechanics don't even smoke. And the ones that do don't do it in an area where any kids can see them. You sound like a bitter ex-employee to me just trying to stir up trouble.

If its a smoke-free school, should you be doing it at all. I saw the smokers(some was walking threw the bus shop) sitting in the elementary line . And to be a bitter ex-employee, I have worked in Gainesville for the last fifteen years.

Then how do you know what happens at the bus shop in Banks county? Sounds like you need to start school at the elementary and get educated in grammar.

I do know that both the bus shop and maintenance shop smoke on Banks County smoke-free campus. What I dont understand is why you do it so close to the fuel pumps.

Whether or not the school campus is "smoke-free" should be the least of your worries. You should be concerned with the economic status of the schools and how you can volunteer your time, energy and attention into a more positive direction. And since you have so much time on your hands, why don't you use some of your time, energy and attention wisely instead of being on the computer bashing bus drivers for smoking. Regardless of what you think do work hard and have very precious cargo in their hands everyday. I personally could care less if they do or don't because parents in the pick-up lines smoke while waiting on their kids and parents smoke while at home sports games.
Your comment is totally pointless and shows total and complete childish behavior. Of all the things to complain about. And all caps were unneccessary due to the fact that it appears you are yelling into your computer.
Get a life!!!!

I am caught in the middle on this one because I, too, have bad habits. None of which are smoking and most don't affect other people's health but I do understand the issues with having to stop years of any habit. However, why have rules if they are not enforced? If it is a smoke-free campus then it should be smoke free but if we have a dress code for students and teachers, it should be adhered to as well. There are a multitude of rules being broken and it seems as if no one is paying attention. Like everything else, it should start with ourselves. If we are doing something that we know is not right, we should stop doing it. Be an example not a whiner!

We of Georgia apologize for the wee tiny brains in the citizens of this rural village. They can not help their history, nor can they advance to the 21st century due to their inability to see past their nose. Please, when driving by on U.S. 441, do not stop, flee, flee to the hills, people have more intellegence there!
