The Banks County Lady Leopards are now 1-1 in region play after defeating Fannin County on Tuesday night in a 4-3 battle.
With the win on Tuesday, the Lady Leopards are now 7-3 for the season following a second place finish in the Top of Georgia Classic gold bracket last week.
The fight on Tuesday against Fannin County preps the Banks County ladies for the upcoming game on Sept. 2. Thursday, the Lady Leopards will host East Hall in the third region game of the season. It is also recreation team night at Lady Leopards’ field.
East Hall is winless so far in the 2010 campaign and as the teams meet on Thursday, the Lady Leopards are looking to continue their streak over the Vikings.
In the past nine meetings Banks County has come out on top in the past eight. The 0-7 East Hall girls are averaging one run per game this season, while the Lady Leopard(7-3;1-1) average just shy of six runs per game.
Next week, the Lady Leopards play late in the week due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday. Banks County heads to Rabun County to face the Wildcats in another region game.
So far, the Wildcats are 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the region already having faced Dawson County and Union County. In the past eight meetings of the teams, Banks County has won six games, including last season’s 12-0 win.
Game times for this week’s game and next Thursday’s contest at Rabun have the JV teams starting at 4:15 p.m. with the varsity girls playing at 5:55 p.m.
