MAYSVILLE – Pledger Gardiner, 89, died Monday, August 23, 2010.

He was the son of the late Edward and Frellie Morris Gardiner.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Bonnie Lingerfelt Gardiner; sons, Ron Gardiner and Johnny Gardiner, both of Maysville; daughters, Mary Brantley, Maggie Valley, N.C., and Joyce Massey, Destin, Fla.; brother, Albert Gardiner, Commerce; sister, Elizabeth Wilson, Athens; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 25, at 2 p.m., from Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Revs. James Duncan and Ralph Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Gardiner will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 1:30 until the time of the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, August 24, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
