Just 129 days remain before the 27th annual World Crown 300 classic at Gresham Motorsports Park takes the green flag on Nov. 12-14.
However you tick it down, Georgia’s biggest season-ending stock car race is just around the corner.
This year’s stock car racing spectacular, which will conclude with the 300-Lap Super Late Model event, will be held Sunday, Nov. 14. Also added to this year’s line-up is a 125-Lap Pro Late Model clash on Saturday, Nov. 13.
Additional divisions competing in this year’s three-day festival of speed will be the US Legends International Legends and Bandoleros, Outlaw Late Models, Trucks and Renegade Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and Mini-Cups.
A number of top drivers including Johanna Long, Jason Hogan, Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, Austin Hill, Russell Fleeman, Stephen Naase, Johnny Henderson, Jimmy Weller and Chris Davidson are already entered.
Hoschton racer Jimmy Garmon and Alabama’s Augie Grill earned automatic starting positions in the 300-lap Super Late Model portion of the event with SLM race wins earlier this year at GMP. Chase Elliott and David Odell have done the same for the World Crown Pro Late Model 150 clash winning PLM events earlier this season at GMP.
According to Gresham Motorsports Park general manager Dan Elliott, early registration could be the key to winning one of Stock Car Racing’s biggest weekends.
“We’re offering an incentive to our Super and Pro Late Model teams who register early for the 2010 World Crown 300,” said Elliott. “We’ll be parking transporters, lining up for technical inspection, allowing tire selection and setting the qualifying positions all by the date that we receive a team’s registration form. Having first crack at all those things is going to give the teams who register early a leg up on the competition. Considering how many great cars and drivers we expect for this event, every little bit is going to help.”
The 2010 World Crown 300 weekend will start with a two-hour practice on Thursday, Nov. 11. Friday’s action will be highlighted by a full program of US International Legends, Bandoleros and Thunder Cars as well as feature events in the Outlaw Late Model and Renegade Street Stock divisions. Pole position qualifying for Sunday’s Super Late Model World Crown 300 will cap Friday’s activities.
The Pro Late Model division – featuring a total purse of $35,000 - will run a 125-lap main event on Saturday, Nov. 13. A 75-lap Truck Series main event paying $2,000 to win and $200 to start will also highlight Saturday’s action.
The weekend will culminate with the 27th annual World Crown 300 on Sunday with $20,000 going to the winner of the Super Late Model Event.
