Jan B. Bertrang is the new director of the Head Start/Pre-K center in Banks County operated by Ninth District Opportunity.
She has been an employee of the Banks County School System since 1978, having served as a language arts teacher, assistant principal and principal. Since 2002, she was principal of Banks County Elementary. She retired from the system in June after being named Administrator of the Year for the school year.
Kay Laws, director of the Head Start-Pre-K-Early Head Start programs for Ninth District Opportunity, said: “Jan knows the community and is a respected educator. Her professional credentials and dedication to her profession bring a new dimension to the programs in Banks County and to the families she will serve.”
Bertrang holds degrees from Piedmont College and the University of Georgia, including a Leadership Certificate and completion of the Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement.
The Banks County center is located at 335 Evans Street.
