The Banks County Sheriff’s Office responded to two loitering incidents at Banks Crossing businesses on Friday.

Officers responded to reports of teenagers loitering in the parking lots at Wal-Mart, Highway 441 South, Commerce, and Sonic Drive-In Restaurant, Steven B. Tanger Boulevard, Commerce.

The managers at both of these businesses reported the problems with the teenagers. Approximately 100 teenagers were removed from the parking lot at Wal-Mart and 25 to 30 teens were removed from the Sonic parking lot, officers advised.

Did the teens cause trouble? Did they do any damage. I don't understand.I got to witness some teens getting removed from Walmart a few weeks ago. There were about 40 of them parked at the far end of the lot. They were just talking. They did not effect business flow, and were not hindering anyone. One brave deputy that had time in between catching drug dealers, speeders, and theives pulled up and told them to leave over his loud speaker. I watched them leave, and most of them were speeding up and down the road after that. I guess that was better than just hanging out with your friends. I could understand if they were hurting your business, but just sitting there out the way. I just don't get it. Congrats kids on not being murderers and theives, but you have got to quit hanging out.Way to go law enforcement. I usually upport y'all, but not on this.

Private property is private property. If these teenagers are tresspassing/loitering, then the business owners have every right to have them removed. I also trust the BCSO would enforce all traffic laws if they are causing trouble on the roads.

Teenagers are more than welcome to come on out to the skating rink to hang out without the worry of being run off. We do not allow loitering in the parking lot however there is plenty of room inside to hang out with your friends and enjoy your evening. Parents can rest assure because Skate A-Rama always has security on hand to keep on eye on everything going on and keep the kids safe. Having grown up in Commerce and Banks Crossing I understand how the kids feel about not having anywhere to hang out and talk with your friends. We are open every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.

Where else would they recommend for these kids to go? And you wonder why teenage pregnancy and drug use is so common in this area, there's nothing positive for them to do. Good grief people...

We use to do it what about the POTTERY aren't many buisnesses left there maybe they can stand there and talk... I know private property crap but who were they bothering were they drinking? doing drugs heck 99% of them probably are customers of walmart maybe they use boycott walmart!! I mean there parking lot is big enough for all of them WOMEN and MEN beware don't be caught talking to your friends in the parking lot of WALMART!!

As teens we all hung around down town in the parks and cruised this cool Railroad town. Now as a parent, my concern when we are walking in the stores we frequent at Banks Crossing, is getting run over by one of the teens as they SPEED thru the parking lots. Every trip we make to Tanger or to Walmart these kids in huge trucks and fast cars(witch are cool by the way)are cruising the parking lots too fast to stop if a small kid were to get free and start running. My only thought here is "SLOW IT DOWN". Have fun and enjoy your youth. It want last forever, however, running over a child in a parking lot would scar alot of lives, our community, and YOU forever.

Parents, GROW UP! Loitering is illegal! Point Blank. Get over it. Find something useful for your children to do other than filling up business parking lots. It is not Wal-Mart's or any other businesses' job to provide a hang out for your children. There are places for this, find those places & send you kids there.

MEL - Where? Where can kids go and just hang out in Commerce? These kids eat at the fast food places there at Banks Crossing, they shop for their clothes and shoes there, they go to movies there & they buy gas there.
They are actually good for the economy.
If I owed a business there, I'd WANT 100 kids hanging out, they do have and will spend their money there too.

Its not about spending money, its about when a family pulls up in a parking lot and get out to go inside, they have to hear rude and crude comments from a bunch of disrespectful punks !! There is no respect anymore. Yes when we all cruzed the tracks in commerce, we had fun, but we did it with respect, not any more !! My hat is off to the BCSO for up holding the law !! Maybe if theese kids would start wearing clothes that fit and not to where we can all see their underwear and was to learn a little respect the general public wouldnt have a problem with them.

I totally agree. These kids may buy items at I-85 but that does not give them the right to be there 24/7. You try going to wal-mart around 10:00 PM or later at night and these young kids are walking around the store making rude comments. Not buying anything at all just being immature and need to grow up . it's not over-bearing parents that are complaining about these kids being around 85 it is the business owners who are tired of them.so maybe if parents would understand that it is not everyone's responsibility to raise and entertain there kids. teach them to be more respectful and responsible and then they won't have to worry about the police asking them to leave a public business.
