There is one thing in mind for the Banks County netters right now – getting into the region tournament.
The deciding match is coming up next Monday as Banks hosts Walnut Grove.
The match was pushed from March 25 and the outcome will determine if the Leopards will have a shot at region.
Before the Walnut Grove game, Banks still has a trip to Rabun County.
The Leopards hosted Rabun on Tuesday where the boys went 5-0 over the Wildcat netters. Girl’s results were unavailable at press time.
Wednesday, the BCHS netters traveled to Rabun to play the Wildcats again.
The final match of the scheduled season is next Tuesday as Banks plays North Oconee at North Oconee.
Depending on the outcome of Monday’s match with Walnut Grove, the Leopards and Lady Leopards could see a return trip to North Oconee on Thursday, April 15, for the region tourney.
Boys vs Rabun
Playing pro-eights, Banks County dominated the Rabun Wildcats on Tuesday.
Banks’ number one singles, Trey Martin went 8-0; as did the number two singles Viet Pham.
Pham has been playing as number two doubles, but will be out of town during net week’s matches, so coach Mike Ruth switched it up to find a number two doubles team to fill the spot.
Still showing strong plays on the court, Jake Schaefer won 8-2 as the number three singles.
Number one doubles team of Alex Banks and Chase Minish won 8-4 while the number two team of Jason Sexton and Tyler Poole won 9-7 after a long battle with their Rabun opponents.
