While Banks County schools were on spring break, the BCHS diamond Leopards were hard at work on the field.
Banks County got started last week with a 12-1 win over Walnut Grove and finished out the week with a doubleheader win over Riverside.
Today, Wednesday, the diamond Leopards make up an earlier game against Walnut Grove from March 9.
That game was called due to darkness as the Warriors’ field was inadequate for play.
Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. on the road.
Also this week, Banks County will have their first chance to match up against current region leader Jefferson.
The Dragons are 11-0 in region play with an 8.6 runs per game average. Banks County is 7-4 in region play with a 6.8 run average.
The Thursday away game opens with the first pitch at 5:30 p.m. in Jefferson.
Next week, Banks remains on the road facing North Oconee on Tuesday at 5:55 p.m.
On Tuesday night, Banks hosted East Jackson and suffered an off night, falling to the Eagles 12-5.
Despite two-run homers from the bats of Brenton Ruark and Kyle Smith, Banks could not get rolling offensively. According to the coach, the Leopards have played well for three weeks, but just had an off night.
