A request to locate a go cart track at Banks Crossing will be heard by the Banks County Planning Commission when it meets at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, in the board room at the Banks County Courthouse Annex at 150 Hudson Ridge.
The planning commission had earlier approved the request for the go cart track at the Atlanta Dragway but the Banks County Board of Commissioners voted to send the request back to the commission after several nearby property owners spoke in opposition to the plans.
At the earlier meetings, Larry Cagle and Don Moore presented the request from the National Hot Road Association for the conditional use permit to locate the go cart track at 500 East Ridgeway Road. The go cart track would be located on the 321 acres of Atlanta Dragway property.
Cagle said the project would include a paved asphalt 3,900-foot-long cart track and a building. The track would be open seven days a week and would offer go cart rentals.
At the earlier meetings, several neighboring property owners spoke against the request with most of their concerns being with issues they have with the current race track, including noise and traffic.
