Six Banks Countians had their water bills reduced even though the issue never was voted on or brought before the full five-member board of commission.

An Open Records Request from The Banks County News revealed that $4,168 in water fees had been removed. Documents from the water department note that two of the adjustments were made at the request of board of commission chairman Milton Dalton. The documents show that the other four adjustments were made “per commissioners” but doesn’t specify which commissioner.

Four of the overdue water bills date to July 2009, while two are from February 2010. The four from 2009 were for Carole F. Rylee, Gillsville. The two for February of this year were for Blake Thomas and Harold Watkins.

Let me get this straight the lady in the tax office is accused of stealing, and arrested, by helping her friends out ,so what is the difference in taking money from the county by excusing water bills.Heck I want in on some of this action i will just keep my money next month and throw my water bill in the trash. Thanks mr. Dalton for the extra money, and the lady in the tax office ought to thank you to because you just helped her case.[Was anyone arrested on this matter?]

You are on the right track--The girl in the tax off did not steal, she just gave tax credits to some friends. Dalton is doing the same thing. Blake Thomas is a builder. He gets a gift, every body in the county should have a gift also. I don't believe this is legal for the grant money to start the water system was by money from all tax payers. This shouldn't cost the other people of Bank county for one stupid builder to leave the water running. Dalton is up to his old tricks when he was Probate Judge Adjusting speeding tickets. I will call the DA this coming week and see if I am entitled to any rebate.

NO....the girl in the tax office didn't give tax credits, she was charged with CHANGING the value of the vehicles in order to lower the ad valorem tax. Big difference there. And yes, Banks countian, she was arrested and taken into custody by the GBI.

I would like to know names and amount of each water bill that was reduced. Also which commissioner requested the reduced water bill for each person and why.
Where do the rest of the BC citizens go to have their bills reduced??

I think we need an audit here. Two has Milton's name on them and the others by"per Commissioners". This opens the door for the clerk to just reduce the bill and take the money home with her. The truth is there was alot of frozen pipes in January and if each and everybody got credit, this would amount to over $75,000.00 of revenue the county would have lost. Why only six? I smell a rat!

Don't spew it on here! Just do it. Milton is the slickest one of the all. I'm sure he has already run down to the weasel of a county attorney and made up an excuse.
#3 Milton? Oh Milton are you listening? on 03/31/10 at 08:13 PM [Reply]
Barefoot and Cain are going to be out come election. But then again, we might consider keeping Barefoot, he's good at counting toilet paper squares. You need to resign, get your rear back home and count your winnings because you're gone when your re-election comes up, or maybe a recall is in order! BTW, put me on the jury for the tax lady's trial, as long as Milton is walking free, I'll vote NG!!!!!

i agree!i think not only the ones in office but the general public should clean from under there doorsteps.then they can start talking about other people.what happen to helping each other.there is none of that anymore.it goes back to who has more money.instead of complaining!WHY DONT BC DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
