The Banks County track and field team is scheduled to head to Rabun County on Thursday, weather permitting, to face Rabun, Habersham and Walhalla.

Thursday’s meet comes after a few days off and a lull in practice due to the rain late last week.

While the forecast is not 100 percent promising for Thursday, the team is set for the 4 p.m. start.

Also upcoming for the track and field team is the March 23 meet at North Oconee. Other than North Oconee, other teams were yet to be posted. The scheduled start is at 4 p.m.

Girls at Jefferson
In a girls only meet at Jefferson featuring Banks and Commerce, the Lady Leopards had several girls place across a dozen events.

Overall, the Lady Dragons of Jefferson scored 101 points in 16 events. Commerce scored 33 in 12 events and Banks scored 29 in 13 events.

Dominating the 300-meter hurdles, Banks took the top three finishes as Jayda Richey finished in 57.41 for first place, followed by Jessica Newell (59.02) and Morgan Cox (59.80).

Newell took second and Richey fourth in the 100m hurdles.

Maggie McCoy would also recieve top honors for the Lady Leopards as she finished the 3200m run in 14:01.

Jessica Wagoner took fourth in both the 200m and 400m dash events.

The Lady Leopards rounded out the track events with the team of Jessica Denton, McCoy, Richey and Wagoner taking second in the 4x400m relay.

In field events, Wagoner placed second and Richey fourth in the long jump. In the discus, Denton took fourth.
