Country Music Hall of Fame member and county music legend, George Jones, will appear in concert at The Classic Center Theatre in Athens on Friday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m.

Jones is known for his many hit records, including, “He Stopped Loving Her Today” and the duet with former wife, Tammy Wynette, “Golden Ring.” Country Music Television (CMT) has referred to him as the “greatest living country music singer.”

“We’re truly honored to host George Jones on our stage at The Classic Center Theatre,” said Philip Verrastro, assistant executive director of The Classic Center responsible for theatre programming. “It’s a great opportunity for our community to come see such a legendary performer in Athens and we hope to welcome many new patrons to our theatre for this concert event.”

Tickets for the George Jones concert are priced from $32 to $42. For tickets or information, call 706-357-4444, visit www.ClassicCenter.com or stop by The Classic Center Box Office at 300 N. Thomas St. in downtown Athens.

OPENING ACT

Country duo Wilson Fairchild, sons of Harold and Don Reid of the Statler Brothers, will open the George Jones concert.

Performing together for more than 15 years, Harold Wilson Reid and Langdon Fairchild Reid were formerly known as Grandstaff. With the new name, Wilson Fairchild, they have embraced a new musical direction utilizing their songwriting ability and their harmonies. Debuting together on “The Statler Brothers Show” on TNN, Wil and Langdon Reid have also appeared on “Crook & Chase,” “Ralph Emery Live” and on stage at The Grand Ole Opry.
