ST. SIMONS ISLAND – B. Blake Breitenhirt Jr., 78, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at his residence.
Born May 19, 1931, in Kanawha County, W. Va., he was the son of the late B. Blake Breitenhirt Sr. and Thelma King Breitenhirt. He was a retired minister of the Presbyterian Church (USA). He had resided in St. Simons for the past 10 years, was a graduate of Greenbank High School, Greenbank, W. Va., King College of Bristol, Tenn., and Union Theological Seminary, Richmond, Va. He was a member of the Savannah Presbytery and attended St. Simons Presbyterian Church. Mr. Breitenhirt was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Lunsford Breitenhirt.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Catherine S. Breitenhirt, Macon, Elizabeth Breitenhirt and Timothy Breslin, Norfolk, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Joel K. and Patricia Breitenhirt, Sun City, Ariz.; sister and brother-in-law, Martha B. and Bennett Rockett, Gastonia, N.C.; grandchildren, Liam T. Breslin, Isabelle Jean Breslin and Declan J.N. Breslin.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 23, at 2 p.m., at St. Simons Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bob Brearley officiating.
