Charles Turk and Ernest Rogers are the two newest members of the Banks County Board of Commissioners. Both were the top vote-getters in Tuesday's run-off election.
In the District 2 race, Rogers had 872 votes, while Fred Wendt had 577 votes. In the District 4 race, Turk had 772 votes, while Robin Trotter had 705.
You must be cut from the same stump as him if you think you are capable of determing that one is more intelligent than the other. Informed means that the biased Republican party made sure that he had an advantage at each ot the forums over the other candidates. A degree in computers doesnt make him more educated for the positions either. Banks CO has probelems much larger than computers. GO FRED back to the being a poll worker!!!!!
And yes, Wendt's forum answers were better because he acutally knew the issues, and therefore had thought before hand about the answers.
And thank you very much for acknowledging Wendt's continued volunteer service for Banks County! Where was Roger's volunteer service over the last several years? Why has he not volunteered since being defeated the firt time? Thanks Mr. Wendt for your service, and TRYING to move BC into the future!
Please feel free to email the chamber with questions or comments at bankscountychamber@windstream.net or call 706-677-2108.
That should be goal of all of our citizens and candidates.
Loftice and Wendt. By the way, the first forum was well run and very fair. Both Wendt and Loftice are well educated and smart. It would serve the County well if Commissioners would find a position for them, maybe volunteer consultants. Lets see if the 5 man board is wise enough to let the election be over and really serve the county.

Including Fred's continued service, his wife is a retired teacher who I know taught Banks County students for over 20 years. Their daughter brought positive recognition to Banks County schools as she was our Valedictorian in "92 and went on to be an honor graduate of UGA. Their son placed Banks County in the spot light again, as a scholar and great athlete going on to graduate from the United States Military Academy (West Point).
A personal agenda may have pointed to all of these accomplishments on behalf of the County in his mailings? Did they mention them? I would get over your personal agenda theory. The entire family are great public servants. From academics, patriotism, to community service, the Wendts have stepped to the plate.
Their service has been paralleled by few! As a lifetime BC farmer, Thank you Wendt family!
I don't understand why you think Hart cost Trotter the race? Gene Hart didn't hire her nor did anyone in the county. She applied for that job from the state along with 23 other people and she was the most qualified to get the job.
