MAYSVILLE – Grace Pearl Cotton, 89, died Friday, November 27, 2009, following an extended illness.
She was the daughter of the late John L. and Mittie Melissa Eugenia Blossom Rucker McCoy. She was a homemaker, a former Sunday School teacher, and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Cotton was preceded in death by her husband, Morgan J. Cotton; and a son, Lawrence Cotton.
Survivors include granddaughters raised in the home, Kelly Savage, Ila, and Kim Hill, Maysville; daughters, Linda King, Clarkesville, Diane Pruitt, Homer, Sandra Frady, Mt. Airy, Peggy Welborn, Maysville, and Shelia Watts, Comer; brothers, Howard McCoy and Donald McCoy, both of Maysville; sisters, Mary McCoy, Commerce, and Lucy Ragan, Cornelia; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and a loving caregiver, Dot Haggard.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 29, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Ragan officiating. Burial will be in the Sunrise Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, November 28, from 5 to 8 p.m.
