It was a rough start for the Lady Leopards’ basketball season. Banks County fell to Lakeview’s Lady Lions 40-34.
The Lady Leopards will have a chance to redeem themselves next Monday as Banks County boys and girls travel to Lakeview to take on the Lions. Tip-off for the girls is 6 p.m. with the boys game to follow.
Last Thursday’s game for the Lady Leopards was a slow start for Banks as the girls trailed by ten during the first half. Banks County got its legs under them and drew to within four points of Lakeview at 23-19, with a buzzer beater three pointer from Madison Franklin.
The Lady leopards would tie the game in the second half, but could not push hard enough to take the lead.
Lakeview shot 36 free throws to Banks’ six.
Leading the scoring for the ladies was Deasha Beasley with 14 followed by Terri Cregar with eight. Madison Franklin scored five followed by Kaitlin Parks with four and McKenna Rylee with three.
The shooting during the game from Banks was around the upper 20 percent range of the floor, but head coach Jerry King and assistant coach Andy Brown are not worried, as that will improve as the girls get more experience.
During the next practices before the Lakeview rematch, the Lady Leopards will be working on shooting and staying out of foul trouble, as two players fouled out during the game.
