A runoff election is set for the two Banks County Board of Commission races. The runoff election will be held on Dec. 1.
In the District 2 BOC race, Ernest Rogers and Fred Wendt will face each other in the runoff. Rogers had 673 votes and Wendt had 463 votes.
In the District 4 BOC race, Robin Trotter and Charles Turk will be on the ballot in the runoff election. Trotter had 764 votes and Turk had 703 votes.
In the District 2 race, the breakdown for others on the ballot were: Ray Holcomb, who had 220 votes, and Neal Pulliam, who had 415 votes.
In the District 4 race, the other candidate, Jerry Loftice, had 325 votes.
Chairman: The base annual salary –is $60,000. After certification is received, an additional $1,200 (annually) is added to the salary. In addition to the base salary, there are annual supplements. Longevity is also a factor.
The salary for the present chairman, Milton Dalton, amounts to an annual salary of $70,010.90.
The base salary for part-time commissioners is $15,000 annually. As with the chairman, an additional $1,200 (annually) is added to the base salary after the completion of the certification. Also, they include the annual supplements to these salaries. They also apply a longevity factor of 2.5% for each term completed.
With these supplements added to the base salary of $15,000, Commissioner Rickey Cain's annual salary amounts to $19,375.51. Included in this annual salary - $15,000 base; $1,200 completing certification; 2.5% longevity (completing one full term) and the remaining amount being supplements included in the salary, beginning with the year of 2002.
Applying the supplements to the base salary for Commissioner Joe Barefoot, his annual salary amounts to $18,902.94. The difference in Commissioner Barefoot's salary, compared to Commissioner Cain's salary is the 2.5% longevity factor, as this is Commissioner Barefoot's first term in office.
