Correction:In last week’s The Banks County News it was incorrectly reported that the 8-AA cross-country region meet would be on Oct. 24. The correct date of the meet is this Saturday, Oct. 31, at Riverside.
Banks County hosted its last cross country home meet of the season with both teams sweeping runners from Johnson.
The Oct. 20 meet was the final run for the Leopards before the region meet this Saturday at Riverside Military.
“I am so proud of all of them,” said coach Kelly McDuffie. “They work so hard. We just want to peak Saturday at region. Everyone has a chance at region. Anything can happen.”
Also during last Tuesday’s meet, the cross country team honored the seniors with a cookout provided by the parents and each of the 12 seniors received a senior T-shirt.
The cross country seniors are Saraith Preza - team manager, Erika Evans, Kelly Grisham, Vanessa Hurtado, Katrina Morris, Amy Sims, Jessica Wagoner, Jorge Diaz, Jared Gregory, Kieffer Hellmeister, Nathan Holloway and Wullians Olandez.
Final meet
In a clean sweep for both the boys and girls’ cross country teams, the Leopards defeated Johnson last Tuesday at home.

J. Diaz led the Leopards and set a course record with a 19:06 finish
For the Lady Leopard runners, 70 percent of the team set personal bests. Maggie McCoy led the team with a 26:40.
