A flash flood warning was given out Monday for southern Banks County. The flood warning is in place through 4:15 p.m. Monday.
Banks County officials report that Webbs Creek is beginning to flood and that Webbs Creek Road has been closed because of the conditions. Also, Crooked Creek Road, between the Pottery Mall and Tanger Outlet Mall, is beginning to flood a portion of the parking lots near the intersection of I-85 and Hwy. 441. Another creek in the warning area is Grove Creek.
Rainfall amounts near three inches have been reported since early morning. Additional rainfall of two to three inches is expected through the day.
“Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway,” officials warn. “The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safety. Move to higher ground.”
