3-0 Lady Leopards head to East Jackson

Despite the persistent, misting rain last Thursday, the Banks County Lady Leopards pushed forward and secured an 8-0 sweep over the Dawson County Lady Tigers. The win leaves the Lady Leopards undefeated in region play and 14-5 overall.

Last week’s first two games on Tuesday against Fannin County and Wednesday’s game against Commerce were rained out. The Fannin County game is rescheduled for Friday at 5 p.m.

It is doubtful that Commerce will reschedule as it has region games that were postponed.

This week the Banks County team were on schedule to play North Oconee on Tuesday as the rain clouds broke and allowed the sun to peek through, according to assistant coach Brent Howell, adding that only the varsity team would play. Results from Tuesday’s game were unavailable at press time.

Coming up on Thursday, Banks will head down the road to face region opponent East Jackson. Thursday’s forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of rain, but the Lady Leopards are hopefully that clear skies will prevail.

“We need to get the games in because we already have three region games next week,” said Howell.

East Jackson is 1-2 in region play falling to both Dawson and Fannin County at the beginning of the month. East Jackson picked up their first region win against Oglethorpe and is 4-9 overall.

Game time on Thursday is 5:55 p.m. at East Jackson.

Friday, the Lady Leopards will take on Fannin County on the road at 5 p.m. Fannin County is 2-1 in region play and 12-4 overall.

Next week, Banks will be at home for all three games taking on Rabun County on Monday; Oglethorpe on Tuesday and Walnut Grove on Thursday. Games start at 5 p.m. each day.
