GILLSVILLE – Peggy L. Hicks, 73, died peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2009, at her residence surrounded by her 20 loving family members.
Born on October 17, 1935, in Hall County, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Edna Buffington Wallace. She retired after 30 years as a supervisor with Wayne Poultry Company and was a member of the Diamond Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by a son, Rodger “Buggy” Hicks; and a brother, Sonny Buffington.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Deborah Hicks, Gillsville; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Randall Kemp, Gainesville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Polly and Ray Coker, Gillsville, Jerrie and Bob Maney, Decatur; sister-in-law, Linda Buffington; aunt, Mrs. Hammond (Martha) Davis; special niece, Beth Buffington Weikel; grandchildren, Bradley, Chris, Denise, Dawn, Daniel, Shane; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Ashley, Lauren, Shane, Christopher, Avery, Jackson, Jared, Roger, Maddie; great-great-grandchild, George; nieces, Andra, Beth, Ginger, Becky; and a nephew, Ronnie.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 15, in the chapel of Ward’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Sven Mossinger officiating. Burial was in the Diamond Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ward’s Funeral Home, Gainesville, was in charge of arrangements.
