COMMERCE – Phillip M. Hardman, 59, died Sunday, September 6, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was the son of the late Ralph Benjamin and Lucille Chitwood Hardman. He worked with the Franklin County Board of Education and was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Glenn Hardman, Commerce; daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Jeff Neave, Alto; daughter, Pat Whitlock, Maysville; daughter and son-in-law, Melba and Jr. Lewallen, Baldwin; daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Jessie Wall, Mt. Airy; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Steve Phillips, Alto; one brother, Howard Hardman, Homer; grandchildren, Bree and Cody Whitlock, Ethan and Salem Frady, Amanda, Ethan, Corey and Kimber Wall, and Abbie Mae Lewallen.
Mr. Hardman was preceded in death by a son, Cliff Hardman; and a sister, Mary Lou Hardman.
Funeral services will be the held Tuesday, September 8, at 3 p.m., from the chapel of Ivie Funeral home with the Rev. James Harvey and James M. (Smiley) Schultz and the Rev. Donnie Balenger officiating with burial in the Grey Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
