Banks County’s Lady Leopards are ready to dive into region play this week as they face region rival Jefferson on Thursday.
Jefferson is currently 5-4 overall with an average score of 3.6 runs and allowing 3.8 runs from opponents. Banks County sits on an 8-3 overall record with a much less allowed score of only 1.4 runs while maintaining a 4.9 scoring average.
Banks and Jefferson will both look for a region victory to start the 2009 drive on Thursday. The Lady Leopards will take on Jefferson in Jefferson at 5:55 p.m.
Last week the Lady Leopards swept AAA Franklin County, 3-0. While the team played well, according to coach Dean Goodwin, there is room for improvement before region games begin.
“We played well but are still learning to win,” said Goodwin. “We left too many runners on base and we have to get better as region play starts this week. Our season starts over now.”
