The Lady Leopards have just started their season and are already 4-3 overall after opening at the Lanier Point tournament last Saturday and hosting Commerce on Tuesday.
The pace will not slow as the Leopards are scheduled to attend the Commerce Invitational tourney this weekend at Veterans Memorial Field in Commerce.
The Lady Leopards will start on Saturday at 10 a.m. against Towns County and then play Athens Christian at 2 p.m. The results of those games will determine if the ladies advance to the 6 p.m. championship round.
Following this weekend’s tournament, the Lady Leopards will meet Stephens County on the road Monday afternoon with the JV ladies playing at 4:15 p.m. and the varsity taking the field at 5:55. Banks County will host Franklin County next Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Region play begins for the Lady Leopards on Sept. 3 as Banks County travels to Jefferson.
According to Lady Leopards’ head coach Dean Goodwin, the opening of the season at the Lanier Point Tournament started fine.
“We began the tournament playing well,” Goodwin said. “We lost focus mentally; probably the two best teams were West Hall and Habersham, so we must learn to win.”
