The countdown to the 2009 Banks County football season is in single digits. There are only nine days left before the gridiron Leopards can start working towards their goal of a state title.
The excitement and anticipation is heavy as the calendar flips closer to the Aug. 28 opener. Banks is looking for a win, according to coach Blair Armstrong. The 1-0 record would boost the team as it starts region play on Sept. 4.
With practices stepping up in intensity and the players getting into their dietary trends for the season, the Leopards had a litmus test last Friday as the team scrimmaged against Johnson High School.
Despite the score not going in Banks’ favor, Armstrong was pleased that each player had a chance to take the field during the game.
“We didn’t play as well as I would have liked, but we did play hard,” said Armstrong.
