GAINESVILLE – Marvin Arthur Pierce, 82, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Limestone Heritage Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Born on April 24, 1927, in Hall County, he was the son of the late John Arthur and Josie Roberts Pierce. He retired from Chicopee Mill as a loom fixer and was a charter member and deacon of Faith Baptist Church. Mr. Pierce was preceded in death by a sister, Nettie Ivie; and brother, Bennie Pierce.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, David and Sherrelyn Pierce and Darrell Pierce, all of Gainesville; grandsons, Todd Pierce, Eric Pierce and Benjamin Pierce; granddaughter, Madelene Pierce; great-granddaughter, Meagan Pierce; sisters, Betty Stewart and Allie Savage, both of Alto; and a brother, Tony Wade, Alto.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 31, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Cole officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
