Former state Representative Jeanette Jamieson has been indicted on two counts of income tax evasion by a Fulton County Grand Jury.

The indictment was presented to the Grand Jury on Friday, July 24. Each count of income tax evasion carries a possible sentence upon conviction of one to five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $100,000.
Count 1 of the indictment alleges that during calendar year 2006, Jamieson had at least $127,000 in adjusted gross income, including income from her tax return preparation business, as well as over $14,000 in income from her service as a member of the General Assembly, that Jamieson only had $61.68 withheld from her income for state income tax purposes, and that she failed to file a state income tax return for calendar year 2006 as required by state law.

Count 2 of the indictment alleges that during calendar year 2007, Jamieson had at least $61,000 in adjusted gross income, including income from her tax return preparation business, as well as over $15,000 in income from her service as a member of the General Assembly, that Jamieson only had $85.08 withheld from her income for state income tax purposes, and that she failed to file a state income tax return for calendar year 2007 as required by state law.

According to other public documents, including a State Tax Execution filed against Jamieson in Stephens County on February 22, 2008, Jamieson also had arrearages for state income tax for the calendar years 1998 through 2005, totaling taxes owed, interest and penalties of over $45,000. That lien was satisfied by Jamieson subsequent to the execution being filed, with the satisfaction of the lien being filed in Stephens County on April 23, 2008.

The case was investigated by Staci Guest, Director of the Litigation and Investigations Division of the Georgia Department of Revenue, and Special Agent Brian Whidby of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Jamieson served in the Georgia House of Representatives for 24 years.

I personally have never met Mr. Harden and did not vote for him in the election, but did email him few weeks ago with a problem. He not only responded, but did so by phone and had my issue with Medicaid resolved by the next day. He was a very nice young man and I not only plan on voting for him next time, but helping him campaign as well!

It's past time for our legislators to be held accountable for their misdeeds. John & Jane Doe would be prosecuted for such acts; therefore, so should our law makers. From local politicians all the way to our President - they seem to think they are above the law.

Maybe the State of Georgia and the IRS should look into how many of her clients of her tax service were encouraged to do the same with their tax filings.

You don't need to worry about what Banks County does - you need to worry what your sorry lowlife officials are doing. Let's see, Jackson, the corruption capital of the world, Stephens, a close second. Franklin, Madison and Habersham do as they please, and Hall speaka no eeenglalees. Janette saved Banks County from losing Banks Crossing's tax dollars, because Commerce had their eyes full head on for annexation! Run again Ms. Jameson, I'll vote for you!!! And, come on down to Banks Crossing in BANKS COUNTY for a wonderful meal, we'll be waiting on you.
