GAINESVILLE – Estelle G. Seay, 87, died Friday, July 17, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born on October 17, 1921, in Hall County, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Lilly Dora Smith Grizzle. Her first job was at New Holland Mill for 10 years and her second job was the first female inspector for the Department of Agriculture, where she retired after 24 years of service. She was a member of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church, and was loved and famous world wide for her beautiful quilts and her sewing. She loved camping and fishing and was a good carpenter, loved ones stated. Mrs. Seay was preceded in death by brothers, Kelice Grizzle, Charlie Grizzle and Frank Grizzle; and a sister, Louise Grizzle.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, B. Fred Seay, Gainesville; stepson and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Peggy Seay, Hull; brothers and sisters-in-law, J.W. and Mae Grizzle, Junior and Olla Mae Grizzle, and D.C. Grizzle, all of Gainesville, and Bobby and Ellen Grizzle, Fort Valley; sisters and brothers-in-law, Geraldine and Woody Dunmire, Seattle, Wash., and Linda and J. Donald Smith, Gainesville; sisters-in-laws, Linda Grizzle, Gainesville, Mary S. King, Bonaire, and Lucille Jacks, Maysville.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 19, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Grizzle officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
