The Lady Leopards’ basketball team is coming off a busy summer schedule. The team wrapped up their summer activities June 27.

Among the activities the Lady Leopards participated in this summer were several one to four day camps at Hart County, Madison County, Jefferson, Jackson County and at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC.

Coach Jerry King said that there were 15 players who participated in the camps, out of which five ladies had perfect attendance.

The summer camps are will prepare the ladies for another season with full varsity, junior varsity and C-team schedules.

According to King, the girls worked on learning a new offense during the summer and made adaptations to the scheme to prepare for the coming 2009-10 season.

“We improved as the summer progressed and with the exception of four of the 39 games played, we were competitive in all games,” King added.

The four games that gave the Lady Leopards pause were against Buford, North Gwinnett, Franklin County and East Hall. During the final four-day camp at Presbyterian, Banks went 14-3.

“We have a great deal to improve on,” said King. “We must improve on scoring in the post and increase our pressure in the press, but some positives were evident. We hit 9 three pointers in one game with five girls shooting at least one of them, we cut down on turnovers, and had much better ball movement.”

For the upcoming season, the Lady Leopards will not see any starting seniors, but King is confident in the strong core of players which are very close and have shown to be proving leadership.
