The annual fireworks display in Homer will be held on Saturday, July 4, at dark (around 9:30 to 10 p.m.) at Banks County High School, Historic Homer Highway, Homer.
The fireworks display is sponsored by the Homer Fire Department, the Homer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Town of Homer.
The fireworks show is free.
Attendees are asked to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy the fireworks display. Cliff Hill, Homer Fire Department, asks that all attendees clean up around their area before they exit the school grounds after the fireworks show.
Hill said donations to help fund the fireworks show will be greatly appreciated.
OTHER FESTIVITIES
Prior to the fireworks, a July 4 celebration will be held at the high school and will be hosed by the football team and the fire department. Events will begin at 6 p.m.
Entertainment will be provided with a DJ and line dancing planned. Other events will include games for the food and concessions. Barbecue plates will be sold for $6 each and will include barbecue, bread, beans, slaw, chips and a drink. Other concessions will include hotdogs, drinks, snowcones and candy. July 4 novelties will also be sold.
Funds raised will go towards the Pride of Summer Training Program and its Jr. Leopard Mentor Projects.
No alcoholic beverages, glass items, weapons or pets will be allowed on school property. Parking is permitted in all parking lots at the site with entrance access available on both sides of the field.
ALSO PLANNED
Redemption Outreach Ministries, Homer, will host its annual Freedom Fest Festival from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday in Homer.
The event will be held on the lawn of the Historic Courthouse.
There will be free food, live music, an obstacle course, boxing ring, moonwalk, double inflatable slide, snow cones and much more, leaders state.
