CORNELIA – Chance Randell Cantrell, 38, died Thursday, June 18, 2009, following injuries received in an automobile accident.
Born in Hall County on March 31, 1971, he was the son of Jack Cantrell and stepmother, Phyllis Cantrell of Mt. Airy, and mother, Janice Zimmerman Holbrooks of Cornelia. He was a mechanic at 123 Tire, and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Mr. Cantrell was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dan and Alice Zimmerman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid outdoorsman, loved ones stated.
Survivors in addition to his parents include daughters, Jessica Ellen Dodd, Gainesville, and Chantley Brooke Cantrell, Clarkesville; brother and sister-in-law, Corey and Haley Cantrell, Mt. Airy; brother, Clay Cantrell, Mt. Airy; sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Judah Echols, Lula; stepbrother, Andy Turner, Mt. Airy; paternal grandparents, Hugh and Nellie Cantrell, Mt. Airy; special friend, Melissa Ledford, Clarkesville; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 20, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Revs. Ray Turpin and Chris York officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, June 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Jessica Dodd & Chantley Cantrell Scholarship Fund established at any Habersham Bank location.
