ALTO - Hazel Brown, 93, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at her residence.
Born on December 12, 1915, in Habersham County, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Roxie Ervin Gerrin. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Dewey Brown; grandson, Joey Jones; great-grandson, Justin Warren; sisters, Dorothy Wiley and Violet Kelley; and brothers, Homer Gerrin and Grady Gerrin. She was a charter member of the Crossroads Baptist Church, where she had also served as a Sunday School teacher for a number of years. She was a retired seamstress, having retired from Carwood Manufacturing with 20 years of dedicated service.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Louvema Brown, Frances and William Jones, Eunice and Gary Clark, all of Alto, Edna and Paul Jones, Cornelia, Mildred and Jay Jones, Lawrenceville, Janice and Derrick Simpson, Alto, Joan and David Lynn, Baldwin, Jackie and Keith McConnell, Flowery Branch; sons and daughters-in-law, Harold Brown, Flowery Branch, Milton and Fran Brown, Alto, Eldridge and Susan Brown, Lula; daughter-in-law: Ruth Brown, Murrayville; sister, Dora Brown, Gainesville; her brothers, Bill Gerrin and Alton Gerrin, both of Rome; 23 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, from the Crossroads Baptist Church with the Revs. Luther Williams and Roy Lee Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home from 6 until 9 p.m. on Monday, June 1.
