GAINESVILLE – Kayla Nicole Holmberg, 25, died Sunday, May 3, 2009, at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Fulton County, she was the daughter of Gail Stowers Scroggs and stepfather, Randall Scroggs of Lula, and Richard Henry Holmberg and stepmother, Pamela Murray Holmberg of Lawrenceville. She was a lifelong resident of Hall County. She was employed at the Goddard School, was a member of the Timberidge Baptist Church and attended White Hall Baptist Church. Miss Holberg was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Harry Vernon Stowers; paternal grandmother, Patricia Holmberg; niece, Courtney Dawn Scarbrough; and cousin, Nicholas Eli Smith.
Survivors in addition to her parents, include maternal grandmother, Margaret Stowers, Norcross; paternal grandfather, Einar Holmberg, Lawrenceville; son, Marcus Bryon Holmberg, Lula; sisters, Misty Dawn Holmberg, Norcross, and Haley Holmberg, Lawrenceville; brother, Ric Holmberg, Lula; nephews, Austin Scarbrough, Ila, and Damean Holmberg and Anthony Holmberg, both of Norcross; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 6, at 4:30 p.m. at the Timberidge Baptist Church with the Revs. Lamar Kastner, Dwayne Ryles, Chris York, Alvin Burns and Vernon London officiating. Burial will be in Gillsville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 5, from 12 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Flowers will be received but those who wish to make contributions may do so to the Marcus Holmberg Fund at United Community Bank.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, North-Riverside Chapel, Gainesville, is in charge of arrangements.
