CORNELIA – Opal McElrath Davis, 92, died Saturday, May 2, 2009.
She was born in Canton, N.C., the daughter of the late Arthur “Ott” W. and Maude Warren McElrath.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie B. Davis; grandson, Timothy C. Brown; brothers, Ernest McElrath, Don McElrath, Fred McElrath, and Carl McElrath. She was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills with 10 years of service and was formerly employed with Carwood Manufacturing.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Don Crump, Baldwin, Ida Mae and Carl Brown, Jr., Cornelia,; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 5, at 3 p.m., at the Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery in Candler, N.C. Those planning to attend the service can arrive at 2 p.m. to visit with the family at the nearby Upper Room Missionary Baptist Church until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends at Whitfield Funeral Home in Baldwin Monday, May 4, from 6 until 8 p.m.
