GAINESVILLE – James Lynn Wingo, 59, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.
Born on June 18, 1949, in Hall County, he was the son of the late Joseph Curtis and Effie Kanaday Wingo. He was employed at Peterson Engineering Company as a welder and was a member of Rock Hill Congregational Holiness Church. Mr. Wingo was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Oliver; and brothers, Ford Wingo and Wayne Wingo.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Popham Wingo, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Steve Wilson, Lula; granddaughter, Madison Brown, Lula; grandson, Wesley Wilson, Lula; nine nieces and nephews; a number of cousins; and a special pet, Sadie.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 26, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Revs. Scott Ledbetter, James Kanaday and Shannon Wingo officiating. Burial was in Rock Hill Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, was in charge of arrangements.
