A Banks County man is suffering from stab wounds and a Lula man has been charged with aggravated assault in the attack.
Banks County Sheriff Charles Chapman said on Tuesday afternoon BCSO officers responded to a call at a residence on Crump Road, Baldwin. The call was in reference to a stabbing that had taken place at the residence.
Upon arrival, officers found 59-year-old Felton Crump in the back yard. Crump was bleeding and holding his abdomen, Chapman said.
A deputy escorted Crump to an ambulance that was waiting at the road. Crump was then airflighted to Grady Hospital, Atlanta, with stab wounds to the abdomen.
Ricky Monroe Williams, 51, 4666 Cagle Mill Road, Lula, was arrested in the case. Deputies reportedly located him in the bedroom of the residence. Williams was detained by deputies and escorted out of the house.
Williams was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated assault as he made it very clear to deputies that he intentionally stabbed Crump because he cursed him, Chapman said.
Chapman said Williams had been staying at the residence on Crump Road because his sister lives at this residence.
Williams was booked into the Banks County Jail on aggravated assault charges.
The investigation continues by the BCSO criminal investigation division.
