A series of storms moved through Banks County Friday night and again Monday morning with trees falling across county roads and wrecks reported.
On Friday, large hail was reported throughout the county. Some power outages were also reported.
Numerous trees were down in the area of Highway 164, Highway 59, Sims Bridge Road and Gordon Road.
A Banks County Sheriff’s Office patrol car parked in the yard at a Banks County deputy’s residence on Gordon Road was destroyed when a tree fell across it. Another car parked in the yard was also damaged by the downed tree.
Three area churches were also damaged during the storms. A section of the roof on Neal’s Grove Baptist Church, Sims Bridge Road, was blown off.
A tree fell in the yard at Beaverdam Baptist Church, Highway 59, narrowly missing the fellowship building.
Shingles were blown off the roof of New Salem United Methodist Church, Highway 59.
