CORNELIA – John Purcell, 74, died Thursday, April 9, 2009.
Born on July 15, 1934, in Stephens County, he was the son of the late C.C. and Addie Cash Purcell. He was a retired employee with Habersham Hardware and Home Center with over 30 years of service, was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church, and was a United States Army veteran. Mr. Purcell was preceded in death by brothers, Curtis, Charles and Billy B. Purcell.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Hunter Purcell, Cornelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy Brich, Mt. Airy, Gail and Wayne Murphy, Alto, and Pat and Randy Mizer, Commerce; sister and brother-in-law, Latrelle and R.J. Norton, Alto; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 11, at the Whitfield Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Burrell and Bill Barrs officiating. Burial was in the Camp Creek Cemetery.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, was in charge of arrangements.
