CORNELIA – Correne Herrin Seay Batchelor, 75, formerly of Baldwin, died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Stephens County Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born in Habersham County on January 29, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Ethel Brookshire Herrin. She was a homemaker and a member of East Lavonia Church of God. Mrs. Batchelor was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Seay; second husband, George Batchelor; daughter, Kathy McCollum; and grandson, Anthony Garrett.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Wayne Garrett, Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Sally Seay, Cornelia, and Donnie and Betty Seay, Martin; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 5, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Butch Franklin officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Austin Kelley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, April 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
